An opportunity exists to work as an In-House Solicitor within the Legal Services division of the Police Association of NSW. This position is for a five-year contract and is based in the Sydney CBD. The successful applicant must have a practicing certificate, preferably with 3-5 years post qualification experience.

The position requires a person with experience in employment, industrial relations, anti-discrimination and ADR processes. Demonstrated advocacy experience including appearance at the Industrial Relations Commission (NSW) (or comparable industrial tribunal) is preferred. A good working knowledge of the Industrial Relations Act 1996 (NSW) and the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) is essential. Experience and working knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act/Workplace Injury Management and Workers Compensation Act, the Police Act (and associated Regulations), and the Police Regulation (Superannuation) Act is also highly preferred.

The duties require the successful applicant to work closely with a small group of dedicated lawyers to provide legal advice and/or representation, advocate and negotiate on behalf of the Association and its members in various jurisdictions.
