In launching our next phase of growth, we have a new opportunity for a vibrant Senior Associate (Workplace Relations) to join our team. We are open to consider for this role to be a Special Counsel position.

You will be a part of a highly collegiate work environment, and work with the legal team to craft sound strategies and advice for clients across employment, industrial relations, workers’ compensation and safety law.

About The Role

As a Senior Associate you will have high level of responsibility on complex matters and ensuring their success. This role will see you working autonomously while being supported by the Head of Workplace and Managing Principal. Through your established client following, and exposure to new networks across our practice, the opportunity to grow your career and contribute to the success of the firm is exciting and real.

Core Responsibilities
• Draft legal documents and correspondence
• Develop sound workplace law strategies and advice to clients
• Provide high levels of technical expertise in the day to day management of matters
• Represent and advocate for clients at conciliation, tribunal and court settings
• End to end management of client matters/files
• Build and maintain strong, professional and productive relationships with all stakeholder groups, to gain strong knowledge of their needs
• Mentor and support the professional development of junior lawyers
• Perform business development activities to contribute to the success of the firm
• Actively participate in the implementation of change processes to support business growth and efficiency
• Lead and participate in peer-based learning and sharing
• Communicate to the team of changes that affect the business
• Work and conduct oneself in accordance with FCW Lawyers’ values (our ‘Commitments’)

About You

Qualifications & Experience
• Current Victorian Legal Practising Certificate
• Min 7 years’ experience workplace law
• Experience in complex litigation in industrial relations/employment/safety law
• Enterprise bargaining experience
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Strong academic results
• Specialisation or postgraduate work (preferred)

• Strong eye for detail, organisational and communication skills

• Effective time management and ability to perform under pressure
