About us

Moray & Agnew is one of Australia’s leading specialist law firms with over 650 staff nationally. We have offices in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Newcastle and Perth and have a well established reputation in our market.

The role

As part of a strategic decision to grow our national employment team, our Brisbane office has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Employment Law practitioner to manage and develop our existing practice. We anticipate this role will best suit an experienced Senior Associate or a Special Counsel who is ambitious and keen to take the next step in their career.

Moray & Agnew’s Workplace team advises on a broad range of workplace matters including unfair or wrongful terminations, human resources matters generally, discrimination, harassment and WH&S. Our work also involves disciplinary proceedings and coronial and other enquiries relating to our substantial health practice. The work is strongly litigation focused although some front-end work is also anticipated.

We act predominantly for major insurers and government organisations which makes for an interesting, varied and demanding practice.

About you

You will need to be an experienced Employment Lawyer with at least 5 years’ experience gained in a well-regarded firm or firms.

While the employment issues are varied, the work is largely generated by our employment practices liability insurance portfolio, therefore knowledge of indemnity issues under policies of EPL insurance is essential. Experience working on employment law matters for insurer clients will be a significant advantage as will be a demonstrated understanding of the commercial drivers of an insurance practice.

In addition to managing our existing and well established practice, we are looking for a dynamic practitioner who is keen to continue to develop their practice and advance their career. You will therefore have well developed client and business development skills. You will enjoy mentoring and developing more junior lawyers and will be an excellent communicator and team player.

This truly is a great opportunity to take a major step up in an already well established career. We are open to the possibility of the role being flexible, however the position would be at least 4 days per week.

If you are seeking a new and exciting opportunity please submit your application together with a cover letter, resume and academic transcript to people@moray.com.au.
