Senior Legal and Policy Adviser

The Private Sector Industrial Relations group provides expert advice and assistance on private sector industrial relations matters to government, supports government participation in the development and maintenance of the national industrial relations system and leads responses and submissions to major industrial relations reviews and inquiries. The team develops and monitors legislation on Victorian industrial relations matters, including long service leave, child employment, owner drivers and labour hire.

This position will provide expert advice on private sector industrial relations matters including: leading the development and review of legislation supporting the Victorian industrial relations portfolio; providing strategic and expert advice on industrial relations policy issues, development of programs, initiatives and reforms; and leading the conduct of, or contribution to, major inquiries and reviews. The role also includes advice and support for Victoria's participation in the national industrial relations system and state/federal relations.

The successful applicant will have experience and expertise in legislative policy development, combined with a comprehensive knowledge of workplace and industrial relations matters; high level analytical and conceptual skills; and excellent communication and writing skills..
