Working in a team of more than 40 lawyers and workplace relations specialists across a truly integrated National team, you will have the opportunity to work on the absolute cutting edge of workplace relations and employment issues, combining strategic, practical and technically astute capability in the work that you do.

About the Role

You will provide workplace relations advice, assistance and advocacy across both our consulting and legal practices. You will have a high degree of direct member/client interaction, including advising some of Australia’s largest businesses.

You will work as part of the growing South Australian team, and the broader National team. You will advise on a wide range of complex workplace relations and industrial relations matters, including termination of employment, general protections, equal employment opportunity, employment litigation, legislative compliance, performance management; industrial disputation, enterprise bargaining (including drafting and negotiating enterprise agreements), workplace health and safety incidents / issues, HR policies and employment contracts.

In addition to strong technical skills, including interpreting and applying legislation and industrial instruments, you will have a keen eye for detail and meticulous drafting. Experience in advocacy (including representation in industrial courts and tribunals) is a strong advantage.

About You

To succeed in this fast-paced role, you will be passionate about providing professional workplace relations advice and taking the lead in a wide variety of industrial and employment law matters. You will want to work at the forefront of complex legal issues and collaborate with your colleagues to identify effective solutions.

You will possess exceptional analytical and writing skills, and you will understand the key workplace relations issues that concern businesses of all sizes.

Your approach will be practical, and you will thrive on the interaction you have with members and clients. You will enjoy working with employers “at the coal face” and taking a pragmatic approach to resolving complicated and sensitive workplace issues.

You will have at least five years’ workplace relations experience gained from a well-regarded law firm, union, employer organisation and/or in an in-house legal / IR / HR role. A current unrestricted legal Practicing Certificate is a must.
