The Wage Inspectorates promotes and enforces Victorian law covering wage theft, child employment, long service leave and contractors in transport and forestry.

The Wage Inspectorate helps Victorians work better. We do this by monitoring and enforcing compliance with laws covering wage theft, long service leave, child employment and owner drivers and forestry contractors.

Driven by values of fairness, integrity and accountability, it's our job to protect workers from exploitative practices. We're also here to educate and support businesses to help them comply with the law.

We want our work to have high impact. That's why we use intelligence, data and information to identify and prioritise the worst harms. We protect Victoria's most vulnerable workers, including children and people from culturally diverse backgrounds. We also target illegal behaviour, especially deliberate avoidance of workplace obligations.

We know most businesses are doing the right thing, and we provide the resources to help them. Our work helps ensure they can compete on an equal footing. We also know that a strong, proactive and decisive regulator is needed to hold to account those who break the law and deter unlawful behaviour.

We believe that nobody should get ahead, in the workplace or in business, by mistreating or short-changing their workers.

That's why we do what we do.
