The NTEU Queensland Division is seeking to employ a Branch Organiser to be located at Central Queensland University (CQU). The Branch Office is located in Rockhampton. This is a part-time (at 0.8), permanent position.

The NTEU is a federally registered union with coverage of academic and general staff in higher education. The Queensland Division covers all workers in all Queensland universities and associated student organisations, research institutes and companies.

Duties Include:

Branch organising, including recruitment and campaign activities, and maintenance and servicing of Branch delegates' and other activists' networks; and promoting the professional interests of and communication with members, and providing them with training, advice and assistance; and general administration support for the Branch and its Committees.

Essential Selection Criteria:

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent; experience in the trade union movement and a commitment to union principles; advocacy, organising, campaigning skills; ability to set priorities when faced with competing demands; current open driver's license; and word processing and database management skills.

Deisirable Selection Criteria:

Knowledge of the higher education industry; electronic communication skills; and experience in layout and production of digital and print media.

Salary:

Salary range is as per NTEU National Staff Agreement Level 4 ($76,409 - $85,491) or Level 5 ($87,001 - $94,063) plus 17% superannuation.
