The Australian Medical Association (WA) is seeking a Senior Industrial Relations Adviser to join the Workplace Relations & Advocacy team at the Association's office in Nedlands

As the Professional Association for doctors, the AMA (WA) is active on all matters that relate to the standard of health care for the community of Western Australia. The Association provides a broad range of services and advocates for members.

Key duties include:
• Provide practical workplace relations advice and advocate on behalf of AMA (WA) members
• Draft complex documents that pertain to legislation or matters of policy
• Lead key related committee groups & forums
• Represent AMA (WA) at WAIRC or Fair Work Commission when required
• Actively contribute to AMA (WA) advocacy, including preparing submissions when required
• Liaise with key stakeholders including health service providers and government
• Liaise with legal advisers regarding specific industrial relations issues to ensure the interests of the AMA (WA) members are protected
• Proactively stay up to date with latest Government policy / Industrial changes / Hospital policy

It is envisaged that the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:
• Extensive knowledge of both the State and Federal health systems, public and private sector
• Extensive knowledge of industrial relations legislation in State and Federal jurisdictions
• Experience in negotiating agreements and the management of employer / employee relations
• Ability to provide advice on complex issues and provide practical solutions
• Highly effective communication / liaison skills and strong analytical capabilities
• Able to work as part of a team
• Tertiary qualifications in Industrial Relations / Legal area or similar
