The NTEU (NSW) is seeking to employ a full-time Industrial Officer, on an ongoing basis, at its NSW Division Office in Surry Hills. The position will be available from December 2020, whilst based in Sydney, does require travel to regional universities in NSW.

The NTEU is a federally registered union with coverage of academic and general staff in higher education. The NTEU (NSW) is responsible for workers in all NSW universities and their associated student organisations, research institutes and companies.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

Negotiating local enterprise collective agreements; advocacy before industrial tribunals; negotiating with higher education managements on personal cases and disputes; recruitment; providing industrial advice and co-ordinating campaigns.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent; experience in the trade union movement; demonstrated negotiating, advocacy and campaign skills; demonstrated commitment to and understanding of principles of organising and evidence of experience in their application; commitment to union principles.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES:

Knowledge of the higher education industry; basic word processing; electronic communication skills and driver's licence.

SALARY:

Salary range is as per NTEU National Staff Agreement Level 7 ($109,277 - $120,649 per annum, plus 17% superannuation).
