About the Opportunity

Due to exciting growth in the business, we have a newly created role for a dynamic Employee Relations Specialist to join our high performing national HR teams based in Macquarie Park to oversee and partner across the Wesfarmers Industrial and Safety (WIS) businesses. As the subject matter expert on employee relations, you will provide advice and support to the HR community and business leaders on Australian employment legislation and managing employee and industrial relations matters that may involve external parties such as unions or government regulators.

Reporting to the Head of HR Shared Services, your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Leading the development of effective employee relations strategies and solutions that support the respective WIS business strategies
• Effectively coaching and influencing HR teams, business leaders and other stakeholders on ER/IR advice, legislative compliance, modern award obligations, and effective relations with unions or government regulators to reach an appropriate outcome
• Proactively manage the maintenance of policies, procedures and governance to provide a consistent approach across the WIS businesses
• Partner with WIS HR teams to draft and negotiate enterprise agreements
• Act as the escalation point for HR business partners for Employee Relations cases

What you will need to succeed

• A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce or a related discipline
• Experience or exposure in Industrial or Manufacturing environments is highly regarded
• Expert and proven knowledge of Awards/Agreements, workplace relations, enterprise bargaining, dispute resolution and employment legislation
• Highly developed relationship management skills and capacity to influence business leaders
• Demonstrated capacity to exercise judgement, discretion, confidentiality and initiative whilst working autonomously and collaborating cross-functionally
