An opportunity for an Employee Relations Consultant is available on a parental leave cover contract to join our team until September 2020, based at our Optus Campus in Macquarie Park, Sydney.

You will be an integral part of our small specialist Employee Relations team that partners with other HR functions and the business to deliver practical employee relations advice and strategies to drive compliance, risk reduction and positive employee/business outcomes.

The role is a varied position that will involve workplace relations advice and coaching to the HR function (including HR Business Partners, and People Services, Rewards, Talent Acquisition) and to business leaders in the context of employment and workplace relations issues and projects (including change initiatives and compliance) and is the primary point of contact for Senior HR Advisory in relation to complex employee relations cases (including performance and disciplinary management, employee absenteeism, workplace investigations etc).

You will also get involved in some advocacy services in relation to litigation / disputes and managing cases that require escalation in accordance with Optus’ Issue Prevention and Resolution Procedure and contribute to enterprise bargaining strategy and negotiations where required. The role primarily supports all Optus business units and also provides support to its subsidiary companies.

To succeed in this role, you will need at least 3-5 years prior experience within a similar ER role or equivalent experience at an employer association / law firm providing workplace relations advice to members/clients,and preferably hold degree qualifications in Law, Industrial Relations or Human Resources. Strong problem solving, verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and stakeholder relationship skills are essential and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
