The NTEU (NSW) is seeking to employ a full-time Organiser based at the University of New South Wales Branch in Kensington (0.6) and from the NSW Division Office in Surry Hills (0.4).

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic, progressive organisation seeking to build trade union power in the workplace through deep organising and delegate development.

The NTEU is a federally registered union with coverage of academic and general staff in higher education. The NTEU (NSW) is responsible for workers in all NSW universities and their associated student organisations, research institutes and companies.

Duties Include:

General administration support for the Branch and its Committees, Branch organising, recruitment and campaign activities, maintenance and servicing of Branch delegates' and other activists' networks, promoting the professional interests of and communication with members, and providing them with advice and assistance.

Essential Requirements:

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent; experience in the trade union movement and a commitment to union principles, advocacy, organising, campaigning skills, word processing, ability to set priorities when faced with competing demands, and database management skills.

Desirable Attributes:

Knowledge of the higher education industry; demonstrated negotiating skills, electronic communication skills, and experience in production of print media.

Salary:

Salary range is as per NTEU National Staff Agreement Level 5 ($81,819 - $88,461 per annum, plus 17% superannuation).
