ClubsNSW, a leading employer association, is seeking an enthusiastic person to join its Workplace Relations team as an Advocate. The successful candidate will form part of ClubNSW’s Workplace Relations team responsible for the provision of employment relations services and other professional support to members.

About the Role

The position will sit in the Workplace Relations Team within ClubsNSW. This team provides advice to registered clubs across Australia. The Advocate role principally involves providing workplace law advice and practical guidance to member Clubs in relation to a range of day-to-day workplace issues including:
- contracts of employment
- compliance with the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
- performance management processes
- negotiating enterprise agreements
- managing ill and injured workers and related matters
- recruitment and dismissal processes, adverse action, anti-discrimination, anti-bullying and unfair dismissal.

The focus of the role is principally pro-active advisory, however advocacy/representation in courts or tribunals will be required.

In addition, the successful applicant would be involved in:
- providing guidance and support to other non-legal workplace relations advisors within ClubsNSW;
- member education activities, including design and delivery of member training;
- development of tools, systems and other resources to assist members and effect best practice workplace relations outcomes in their workplaces.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will:
- ideally be an admitted lawyer with 1 – 3 years PAE (candidates without 1 – 3 years PAE, with a strong background in employment law and demonstrated advocacy experience will also be considered);
- have an ability to manage an independent case load, while working within a team environment, including high level communication, delegation and reporting skills
- have excellent research, drafting and communication skills;
- be able to understand and interpret complex information and communicate new information effectively;
