This IO/Lead Organiser position is fixed term to cover parental leave absence from August 2019 – March 2020. Part-time or full-time is negotiable. There is potential for the right candidate to secure further work at the end of this contract, and further develop their leadership skills to step up in Acting Secretary duties from time to time.

The IO/Lead Organiser will report to and work in collaboration with the Branch Secretary and be responsible for
• The oversight, carriage, and management of the Union’s industrial casework, up to and including appearing in the relevant tribunals and courts to represent the union and our members interests
• Providing industrial and legal advice to our officials and members
• Participating in, and modelling, and supporting and developing Organisers and Officials to
o deal with member enquiries about their workplace rights
o represent members’ industrial interests in workplace disputes and disciplinaries
o join workers to the union
o build activism and leadership amongst union members
• Participating in the strategic Branch planning and decision making through the Leadership Group
• Enterprise bargaining and providing industrial guidance
• Building, managing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships
• Ensuring effective translation of strategic plans into operational plans
• Conducting campaign actions, including protests and rallies
• Participating in the union’s political and social justice agenda
