Overall purpose:
With the needs of MEAA members front of mind, the Organising Director will have a focus on driving Organiser performance to implement campaign strategy, manage staff, coordinate work with other leaders of the organization to achieve targeted outcomes. Negotiate outcomes and manage relations with other stakeholders.

The Organising Director will provide leadership and co-ordination focusing on turning the strategic campaign plans into operational plans. They will manage and develop Organisers in advancing tasks identified by plan and report on work and individual progress.

Specific roles:
• Implementation of industrial and organising strategy with Organisers, across MEAA
• Implementing growth strategies and campaigns across MEAA
• Research issues affecting our industries
• Is proficient in organizing frameworks and can demonstrate and develop Organisers to utilise these frameworks on a daily basis
• Manage, assess and develop Organisers in delivery of tasks identified by the plan
• Work with Organisers to develop delegates
• Ability to brief and debrief team on planned activity
• Ability to prepare reports for leadership team
• Identify issues of concern and work with Organisers to implement solutions.
• Representation of MEAA before various tribunals such as Fair Work Australia
• Liaison with key industry stakeholders

Performance measures:
• Sustained and continued increase of membership
• A growth and recruitment culture fostered among Organising staff, activists and members
• Develop Organisers ability to work to plan and achieve goals
• Advance Organisers skill development
• Increase the number of activists/delegates
• Increase the number of MEAA members engaging in MEAA initiatives
• Provide ongoing support and cultivate relationships with staff, members/potential members, detecting issues as they emerge and addressing them directly.

Attributes:
The Organising Director will have the skills and initiative to implement campaign strategy, manage Organisers, coordinate work with other leaders of the organisation to achieve targeted outcomes, negotiate outcomes and manage relations with other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will currently be a Lead Organiser ready to take that next step or you will be performing a similar role in a like-minded organisation with the expected high level of enthusiasm and initiative this important role demands.

Remuneration is dependent on skills and experience.

The position is based in Sydney with a package dependent on skills and experience, plus 10.5% employer contribution to superannuation. You will also be entitled to 5 weeks annual leave each year plus an additional 3 days leave between Christmas and New Year.
