The Office of Industrial Relations is a key contributor to the Queensland government’s strategic objectives for work health and safety, electrical safety, workers’ compensation, industrial relations and labour hire. As part of the Department of Education and in partnership with stakeholders, they strive to achieve the lowest rate of work-related and electrical fatality, injury and disease in the nation, improved workers’ compensation regulatory services and a fair industrial relations framework in Queensland. The Office provides services and support to metropolitan, regional and remote communities through a network of 19 offices.

As Deputy Director-General, you will provide strategic leadership to ensure effective delivery of Government priorities. You will bring an innovative and collaborative approach in building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Queensland Industrial landscape. The ability to lead ideas and initiatives for policy reform is required.

The successful applicant will demonstrate an ability to think and act strategically, and display visionary leadership skills to develop a service driven and proactive contemporary culture. You will have the capacity to manage multiple stakeholders within Queensland Government and externally across boundaries with a demonstrated success of operating complex political environments at the most senior level.
